I was lucky to have a brief role in the last SCO follies in 2001 -- on the eve of the acquisition of the SCO server business by Caldera Systems (who have just recently renamed themseleves "SCO Group" in recognition of the underlying value of the UNIX business they acquired.) "Fiddler on the 425 Roof" -- a reference to the deck on the third floor of the main building where we would have our "SCO Friday" parties -- was (very loosely!) based on "Fiddler on the Roof" and was the story of the almost year-long angst-ridden interlude between the announcement of the acquisition and its consumation. In this scene, I try to explain the Linux business model to the old SCO sales dinosaurs, with some new lines to Barry Manilow's "At the Copa".
