Oliver Huntemann

2005: Electronic Dance Music dominates the urban club culture since more than 15 years. Between many highs and lows techno music has proven, that it is here to stay. Not many techno artists managed to do that in the same manner. Bremen based recording artist and DJ Oliver Huntemann definitely belongs to the few activists, who kept on holding up the torch since the beginning. Brought up in the funky northern german countryside, he soon found himself heavily infected by the fascinating world of music. He started taping radio shows, buying vinyl maxis and experimenting with his first pair of turntables - all due to the massive wave of innovative American youth culture and music that was invading Europe since the late 70ies, practically speaking: Rap music, break dancing and graffiti as e.g. shown in the movies Beat Street or Wildstyle or recorded by Africa Bambata, Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow or Whodini, to name just a few. It didn't take long until Huntemann started spinning records on parties and it soon became clear, what he wanted to do with his life - yeah, right Oliver .. heard that before, so you're going to be a big ass DJ touring the world and so on... somebody bring me an Espresso please... To calm his parents and get some "real and serious" education, Oliver joined the german navy forces for 6 years and learned how to be an electrician. Ahoi! But all the military drill and discipline couldn't keep him from spending all of his money for records and going to parties. When Acidhouse invaded Germany in the late 80ies, Oliver immediately knew that this was his thing - he was totally electrified and stoked! He started organizing his first own techno parties and got to know Gerret Frerichs, who was running a club and a small recording studio, where they created the project Humate alongside the Jazz musician H.G. Schmidt ! Their first record was released in 1992 on the cult label MFS ffwd... Trillions of records and projects later: including the foundation of the successful dancelabels Confused, Spezial Music and Toscana, releases as Huntemann, H-Man, Kaycee, Taiko or Jeux Floraux on labels like Alphabet City, Gigolo or Giant Wheel not to forget on his own labels, many many gigs around the whole world and last but not least the building of the Super 8 Studio together with Stephan Bodzin, Oliver Huntemann is still not tired on delivering fresh and up to date music ! He simply knows that electronic dancemusic is and will always be about renewing in terms of styles and influences and easily manages to keep his very unique and special touch alive, whether he produces house, techno, electro, ambient or minimal tracks. His latest strikes is his new imprint Dance Electric. Dance Electric is totally dedicated to his own productions. He releases as Oliver Huntemann, which perfectly displays the very personal approach of the label. For the first release he teamed up with Get Physical phenomenon Chelonis R. Jones and the feedback is already massive! Slightly dark and 80ies influenced Electro tracks are what it's all about! So keep on watching Oliver Huntemann, after being more than ten years in the szene without losing touch to the underground spearheads.
